Abbott, John Stevens Cabot. Born in Maine, 1805-1877. Brother of Jacob Abbott, supra and grandfather of Willis John Abbot (sic), supra. An historical writer, whose partisan spirit seriously impairs the value of his very readable works. He was for some years a Congregational minister, but after 1844 devoted himself to literature and educational work.
